Using the Bookmobile

Monday through Thursday the Bookmobile has scheduled stops in Albemarle County. Afternoons and evenings, the Bookmobile visits its scheduled stops in Charlottesville. The Bookmobile visits Nelson and Louisa Counties on alternating Fridays.

Office hours are Monday through Friday, from 9:00AM to 5:00PM; you may reach Bookmobile and Outreach Services staff by calling 434-973-7893 ext.2, or emailing bookmobile@jmrl.org

  • Come in and browse our collections for all ages
  • Place holds and pick them up at your stop
  • Request materials on particular subjects
  • Bookmobile materials check out for one month
  • Renew for an additional month
  • Return Bookmobile materials to any JMRL location

Upcoming Holiday Closings and Schedule Changes

  • Community Lab School stop is paused for summer and will resume on August 13.
  • Blue Ridge Heath District will host 2nd & 4th Thursday stops 10:30-11:30am June - July.
  • Ivy Creek School stop is paused for summer and will resume on August 20.

Bookmobile coming to Greene County!

Beginning in September, the JMRL Bookmobile will make regular monthly stops at 8 locations in Greene County. 

JMRL wants your ideas about how to best meet the community's needs.  Please take a moment and fill out this form to say where would you like the Bookmobile to stop monthly in Greene County

The final Bookmobile route will be determined by community input from this survey, geography, demand, and schedule.  JMRL may not be able to accommodate all requested stops.

Bookmobile Schedule

The Bookmobile does not run if Albemarle County Public Schools or, on alternate Fridays, Nelson and Louisa Public Schools are closed for inclement weather. During inclement weather driving restrictions, Bookmobile and Outreach staff will still be available via telephone and email to manage patron inquiries. Listen to radio station WINA (1070 am) and TV 29 for cancellation notices.
