Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan is a service available to JMRL patrons for materials not owned by the library system.

• Fees: There is no fee for items from the University of Virginia Library or for electronic article requests.
  • For other requests, there will be a $3.00 fee for each item requested on interlibrary loan.  
  • The fee will be applied to your account even if the item is not picked up.
• Timing: It can take up to four weeks for the materials to arrive. To check on the status of your interlibrary loan, please contact the branch through which the request was made.
• An active library card in good standing is required to place an interlibrary loan request.
• Materials published within the last year are not available for interlibrary loan.
• The request limit is three items per patron. Additional items can be requested as previous requests are returned.
• You will be notified by email or phone when the item is available.
• Patrons are responsible for the costs and fees for lost or damaged books as assessed by the lending library.
