With TWO different options for you to choose from!

The Library is participating with other Virginia public libraries in a program sponsored by the Library of Virginia that allows you to go ONLINE to keep track of your reading this summer!

Or, you can participate in the CLASSIC summer reading program, using a paper reading log!

Summer Reading Program for Children Ages 2-11

    Interested in the ONLINE summer reading program?

    Be sure to get parental permission before signing up online.

  • Create an account with a user name and a password - passwords must be at least 4 characters. Families may sign up together under one account.
  • You can create an account beginning May 27. Starting June 9, you can log in books you've read.
  • Follow the directions on the page, and you'll have your own personal page to enter everything you read.
  • At the Library, you'll receive a log to be stamped each week to receive a prize. You'll also be entered into a drawing for a free book.
  • Read anything you choose - books, audiobooks, eBooks, newspapers, or magazines! If someone reads to you, that counts, too!
  • Stop by the Library each week to pick up your prize!
  • Register online and be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card to Best Buy.

Do you prefer the CLASSIC summer reading program?

  • Starting June 9, stop by any JMRL location to pick up a paper reading log. You'll also be entered into a drawing for a free book.
  • Keep track of your reading on the log, and bring it back to the Library once a week to receive a prize.
  • Read anything you choose – books, audiobooks, eBooks, newspapers, or magazines! If someone reads to you, that counts, too!
